What is the Foolishness of Idolatry?

God is the King jealous for a personal covenant relationship with his people (Isa 44:1-8), so he censures as foolish those who personally identify with another being or object (Isa 44:9-20) that cannot forgive our sin or deliver us from our foes (Isa 44:21-28).
